The Pennsylvania Museum of Music & Broadcast History is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the preservation, promotion, and celebration of Pennsylvania’s music and broadcast industries. By collecting and sharing their accomplishments through education, presentation, displays, and histories, we shall strive to retain these contributions for all to enjoy.

Soulville and Jay-Walking were two sister record labels in Harrisburg, PA. They were operated by Jimmy Walker, Bobby Fulton, and Toby Young, and released recordings from about 1968 to 1975. They had some early successes, and a roster of good local and regional artists. This story revisits the fun and struggles of being a small label in the capital city. Contributed to the PMMBH by the generosity of WHTM-TV.

To promote and support PMMBH goals of preservation, education and enjoyment of audio recordings, radio and television programming as well as special events that occur and have occurred within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and inspired, influenced as well as performed by Pennsylvanians.
To establish, own and operate a Pennsylvania museum to benefit educators, students, residents of and visitors to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to feature archives of a historical, religious, educational, scientific and technical background with an emphasis on music to include audio and visual recordings and programming.
To highlight contributions by Pennsylvanians representing various music genres with an emphasis on all ethnic influences.
To establish, maintain and preserve archives of radio and television talents , programs and technical broadcasting equipment
To provide educational and historical material for public consumption and education with an emphasis on music to include audio and visual recordings and programming in all ethnic influences.
To promote broadcast and music history locations, influences and events within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
To grow and benefit with financial support from public and private foundations, organizations, corporations, memberships, grants, in-kind donations, business within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and any other methods approved by the Board of Directors and bound by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

The history of broadcasting in the Harrisburg area dates back to 1922 when the Pennsylvania State Police began operating radio station WBAK. WABB soon started a year later. WHBG and WPRC came along in 1925. Only the latter two stations would survive beyond the 1930s. WHBG became WHP in 1929 and WPRC became WKBO in the early 1930s. In 1946, WHP-FM (97.3 MHz) became Harrisburg’s first FM station. By 1949, WGAL, located just east of Harrisburg, became the first television station between Pittsburghand Philadelphia.
Harrisburg Broadcasting includes nearly 200 photographs spanning nine decades of radio and TV from the greater Central Pennsylvania, including personalities such as Mike Ross, Ron Drake, Mac McCauley, Andy Musser, Joe Harper, Pete Wambach, Ed K. Smith, Dick Redmond, Abe Redmond, Bob Alexander, Dan Steele, Carol Crissey, Chris Andree, John St. John, Jim Buchanan, Janelle Stelson, Chuck Rhodes, RJ Harris, "Nancy and Newman", Tod Jeffers, Bruce Bond, Tim Burns, Sue Campbell, Scott Shaw, Hollywood Heffelfinger, Toby Young, Olin Harris, Ed Gundaker, Ron Martin, Keith Martin, Kim Lemon, Wendall Woodbury, Dennis Owens, Alicia Richards, Richard Seneca, Jeff Kauffman, Ed Coffey, Dennis Edwards, Melanie Apple, Chris Tyler, Bob Durgin, Michael Parks, Tom Shannon, Scott Fortney, and MANY others!
